Regaining the sense of connection and belonging through your own body

Living in a world that moves so quickly usually leaves us feeling detached or distant from life. It might seem counterintuitive, but the more we’re caught up in work, interactions, demands, and deadlines, the stronger the sense of disconnection becomes — even though each day feels intense.

We are social beings, seeking for community, tribe, companionship. This longing for feeling connected to others is for sure a basic need, but it can also mirror an inner state of search for belonging to ourselves. A search for quieting that sense of separation which comes up when we are disconnected from our own essence.

One of the explanations for this is the fact that the intensity of busy days keeps our awareness, or attention, focus, in our mind and thoughts. So much to plan, to revise, to review, to prepare etc. The more we are in the head, the less we are in the body, in the present moment. That can lead to a lack of relationship to our own bodies, leaving us sort of numb, unable to identify what supports us or not, and to get a sense of limits or requests coming from within.

This disconnection is not uncommon, but that's doesn't have to be a permanent state :)

The practice of moving the focus away from the thoughts of past or future into the present moment is something everyone can learn and practice. It's like training a muscle. By cultivating awareness of the body and its sensations, we are training our attention to be present with whatever is happening "right now". The more we practice, the easier it becomes.

As we progress in this experiment, reconnecting with the body turns into an act of self-care, a way to practice self-compassion. Little by little we feel closer to ourselves, to our inner world, being able to hear our feelings, emotions and needs without too much distractions from the outer world. With that, the sense of belonging starts to grow from inside-out, grounding us and creating this feeling of being closer to oneself.

My support for you...

The bodywork (LINK) or movement sessions (LINK) I offer are one of the tools to support you exercising the shift of awareness from thoughts to the body, or to whatever is happening at this very moment.

You can train to move your focus to your body and all its sensations, exploring it and feeling points of tension, areas which are protecting, resisting. This connection gives you the chance to experience whatever is there, letting the bodywork session progress and guide you into a relaxation state that will trigger healing.

All layers are interconnected (more on this topic HERE) and the work on the physical body has its effects on mental and emotional worlds as well.

So, if you are looking for some support to get closer to yourself, I'm here for you!!

With love,

Tarsi.
