Discovering Gross and Subtle Energies
What is Gross Energy?
Gross energy encompasses the physical and tangible aspects of our existence.
It can be found within our physical body, sensory experiences, and the observable world around us. From the solid matter we interact with to the movements we make and the physiological processes we undergo, gross energy is the foundation through which we engage with the physical realm.
What is Subtle Energy?
Subtle energy refers to the more refined and non-physical aspects of our being. It is the underlying energetic substratum that supports our physical body and influences our experiences.
Subtle energy can be found in the flow of prana, the life force energy that animates all living beings. It manifests through the movement of subtle channels called nadis and the functioning of the subtle energy centers known as chakras.
The relationship between gross and subtle energies x Koshas
Within the kosha framework, the Pranamayakosha, or the energy body, plays a vital role. It is responsible for providing life force energy, or prana, which revitalizes and nourishes the Annamayakosha, the physical body. The subtle energies flowing through the Pranamayakosha infuse the gross energy of the physical body with vibrancy and vitality. This interplay demonstrates how subtle energies, represented by the Pranamayakosha, act as a nourishing force, revitalizing and supporting the functioning of the gross energy within the Annamayakosha.
Exploring the Correlation of Energies with Thai Yoga Massage
During a ThaiYoga Massage session, I'll be working on the client's body, stimulating and balancing the gross energy pathways, as well as activating the subtle energy flow. The stretching and pressure applied in a session, together with twists, joint mobilisation and rocking of the body help releasing physical tension, while also facilitating the movement of subtle energy through the energy lines and chakras. This integrated approach promotes relaxation, rejuvenation, and an overall sense of well-being.
Thank you,
Tarsi.
